This weekend The NessNest took it's first ever camping trip with ALL 4 of us. We had made reservations in Itasca a month ago, for August because ya know it's WARM in August...right? WRONG! It rained the whole way there...and for the first few hours we were there. We got the tent up just in time for a major down pour which left us stuck in the tent BORED for hours since our stuff was still in the van. It finally let up around 9pm and we emerged as did the rest of the campers in the park. Steven made a fire and we ate supper and headed to bed around 10. The next morning Steven cooked us a rockin' breakfast and we packed up because...guess what, it was raining on and off again and we didn't have the site for another night anyway, lol. We went to the Mississippi Headwaters, picnicked at a beautiful park and then rode our bikes on the bike trail. It was so gorgeous there. We headed home later that afternoon and I was never so happy to pull into my driveway as I was yesterday. We will go again, SOON hopefully and this time praying for NO RAIN!

May not have been your best weekend yet, but definitely memorable. And you might not think so right now, but probably pretty good memories too! It looks like you made the most out of it. And it is just so beautiful up there!

Sounds like my kind of camping....NOT!! I have not enjoyed camping in MN and this is just another reason why I don't camp here!!LOL!!
I'm so sorry to hear that your trip wasn't exactly how you planned. I know next time WILL be better. Nevertheless, it still looked like you had some fun :)

Look at it this way... now you will be WAY more appreciative the next time you camp and the sun shines! The boys more than likely only have good memories of the trip regardless.
